Boathouses : Open Gable Roof Boathouses
Open Gable Roof Boathouses The Open Gable Metal Roof:
Of all the roof designs available for boathouses, the most appealing, comfortable, and reasonably priced is the “Open Gable” design. The flat metal roof is of course lower priced, but in some cases it is not considered that appealing from an architectural viewpoint. There are locations where a flat roof is the best option due to the fact that it takes up less of the landowner’s view because it has a smaller cross section that will effect the view. But in places where you can install a larger more appealing roof, the open gable allows the owner to look through the roof structure. The way the structural system lines up it looks nice, and gives the boathouse a lot more room overhead leaving the heat of the hot Texas sun to simply flow right out the ridge and each end. In some cases the lifts can be installed over the top of the lower roof structure allowing the vessels to be pulled up higher into the roof for safer storage.

In summary, the open gable roof design is both visually appealing and economical when compared to a closed gable or hip style roof design. Only the flat metal roof is lower priced. But in cases where it can be put into the design it has many benefits. It can be installed to resist winds up to 100 mph or more and through two recent hurricanes in ’05 and ‘08 we have not lost a single metal roof sheet.

The Closed Gable Metal Roof:
For architectural purposes sometimes the gable ends of a bi-plane or single ridge roof should be closed in with either pine siding, metal, Hardi Plank, or in some cases T-111 in order to match existing or new home construction. The cost of building the gable ends into the roof design will make this roof style the most expensive of the four options available, but at the same time possibly the most appealing visually. It can be built to withstand 125 mph winds as well.

We build our boathouses as an extension of your living area, which actually can greatly enlarge your lake property and extend it out over the cooler lake environment.  It always catches potential customers off guard when they find out that for almost the same money as an outdoor patio and kitchen on land, they can have the same much more comfortable facility - out on the water!

Our boathouses are at the absolute top of the scale as far as structural design and strength, thickness of timbers used, and architectural appearance.  When it comes to installing them, we start with a pile-driver with a 1,000# hammer to install all of our boathouse pilings.  This ensures the maximum depth possible which gives you the ultimate resistance possible to support the heavy vessels, boat lifts, jetski lifts, double PWC lifts, and of course all of the other multitude of various amenities that are available from us.
